A short loop from Bukovel over Syniak (1665 m) and Malyi Gorgan (1592 m) — the perfect first route in the Gorgany: 13 km, about 4 hours of walking, no tricky logistics. A ridge of signature Gorgany boulders with views of the mountains and the resort itself.
The highlight is the sunrise: start at 5 am and you greet the dawn right on the summit of Syniak, returning to the resort by 9–10 am in time for breakfast. The gregots — grey boulder fields along the ridge — look especially striking in the dawn light.
Bukovel is easy to reach by car, train or bus. No permits are needed and mobile coverage works along the whole route. Below is the full free description: logistics, timing, water and safety.
Bukovel is easy to reach in many ways: by car, by train or by bus — a good road leads to the resort. No permits are required and there are no entrance fees. Register with the mountain rescue service before you go — even for a short route.
The format is half a day: start from Bukovel at 5 am, sunrise on Syniak (1665 m), then along the ridge to Malyi Gorgan (1592 m) and back down — by 9–10 am you are at the resort again. About 4 hours of walking. No overnight needed; you can rest on the ridge.
There is no water on the ridge — carry it from the start; 1–1.5 litres per person is enough for 4 hours.
The trickiest section is the descent from the ridge — lots of small loose rock, so wear comfortable boots with ankle support. The escape route is simple: from Syniak go back the way you came. Mobile coverage is good along the whole loop. The route is walkable year-round; dress warmly in winter and for the pre-dawn start.
